Mobile Response Team (MRT) - Mental health support for healthcare providers

Provided by Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA)

Provides psychosocial support, education, and consultation to organizations and agencies supporting British Columbia’s public health emergencies.
The Provincial Overdose Mobile Response Team (MRT) was created with support from the BC Ministry of Health and BC Ministry of Mental Health and Addictions in recognition of the psychosocial impact of the overdose public health emergency on first responders, frontline workers, and people with lived/living experience/peers.

The team offers psychosocial support, education, and consultation to organizations and agencies working within British Columbia’s overdose public health emergency. This includes people impacted by critical incidents such as overdoses and/or overdose deaths during their work.

During our response to COVID-19, the team's mandate has been expanded to support the mental wellbeing and psychologically safety of frontline healthcare workers, specifically long-term care professionals and other community care providers, who are experiencing exponential distress and mental health concerns.
The team responds to all areas of the province experiencing direct impacts related to the provincial overdose public health emergency and COVID-19.

Program offers immediate, short-term psychosocial support to:
  • Build skills and capacity.
  • Promote individual and agency resiliency.
  • Create space to deal with grief and loss.
  • Offer supportive strategies for living with and responding to trauma.
